Kids, What can you say to them? :)

I have never been a fan of little kids. They are noisy, They cry, They irritate you when you want to look like grace personified( read, during weddings when you are all dressed up but have a little kid nagging you), They are attention seeking and most of all plain irritating. Some people can control them, but I can never impose any kind of authority on them, NEVER.

Anyway, due to some lapse of my common sense, I signed up to teach english in a primary school. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of teaching, but I think I'd do a lot better in middle school.

On the first day in 3rd standard, I came up with what I thought was an ingenious idea to make them learn words, I told them to get a new word every day. I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm. Every one wanted raised his/her hand. I chose 2 of them, after a lot of confusion and chaos. To be frank, the first day I found all of them really adorable :).

Next day, One of the "chosen" kids, (who, later I realised was the naughtiest boy in class) came up to me with a big smile. I asked him what his word was,
He said, "Apple".
I was taken aback, I told him, "Arjun, Get a bigger and more difficult word tomorrow"
He smiled again and went back to his seat. The rest of the day just passed and next day, The moment I stepped in, He came running to me,
"Miss Miss", He said
"Yes Arjun",
"I got a new word Miss, Its bigger and more difficult",
I was happy, I thought 'Okay, my plan seems to be working'
I said, "Okay, Go ahead tell your word to the whole class"
He turned around confidently and said, "PINEAPPLE"

I just didn't know what to say! :)

WAY-anad!

Back after a brief hiatus, the reason for which being my trip to Wayanad, and the sluggishness that follows all my trips. Since I've never written about any place I visited, I'm grabbing this opportunity with both my hands.

Wayanad, a hill station, about 350 km from Bangalore, is the perfect getaway, provided you don't reach Bandipur between 9 PM and 6 AM. The road through the national park is closed during this time. You'll have to wait in your vehicle, which is what we did :)

This was my second trip to Wayanad in a span of one year, naturally I was apprehensive about going there again, but thankfully itinerary didn't have any of previous year's places. These are some of my favorite places there,

The first one is, undoubtedly Kuruva Islands. Needless to say, its flanked by water on all sides. You get to do River Crossing, Rock climbing, even Tree climbing and even swinging from trees. It is real treat for people who like "mild" adventure.

Check out some of the photos. Please ignore the timestamp, I'm too lazy to change it:)

Then there is Meenmutty falls for people who love aping their ancestors;). It is nestled between hills which are not easy to trek, but still the entire journey is a visual treat.

After two tiresome places, You can visit the peaceful lakes in and around Wayanad. I have visited two such lakes, Banasura lake and Pookot lake. The former is scenic with a wonderful view. Best time to visit is during Sunset. The latter is a regular lake, where you can go pedal boating. Given a choice, opt for Banasura lake.

Banasura Lake

Pookot Lake

And finally, The place that I liked least, Edakal Caves. They are caves on top of a hill, where apparently early men have inscribed( for me its "doodled":)). Nothing wrong with the place, maybe I was tired since it was a very hot afternoon. There is one thing special. Standing on top of this hill, you can see a huge rock that is vertically cut.

Before I forget, a special mention to all those wonderful tea gardens on the way, They make your travel within Wayanad, even more pleasant.

So next holiday, you know where to head to!
Go ahead and enjoy:)

The Greediest Child

The mid summer morning,
God! it was unforgiving,
As if mother earth was saying,
'Take this, you indignant son of a... , duh, me'
I said,
'I chopped down some trees,
after all, to give them life, you are
I burnt some fuel,
after all, to replenish it, you are,
I killed a few tigers,
after all, to bring them back, you are

Then, it thundered,
a few strokes of lightning, I could see,
The sky ripped apart,
'Are you angry now?'

I thought,
'This is it, you gave up on me
How could you do it?
Am I not your sweet little innocent kid?
Didn't I plant a few saplings two days ago?
Please don't do this'

Then, You poured on me,
the sweetest, the most wonderful, little drops of rain,
and I was home,
It was heaven,
To forgive me is your habit,
After all, a sweet child of yours, I am

Who's 'more' responsible now?:)

Last week was the fourth time I left my key in my bike's keyhole. Once, it can be forgiven, twice, can be understood, thrice, ok I can promise myself to be careful the next time but FOUR times!!!. How could I convince myself about it?

I have always been an irresponsible person, what with being a pampered brat, but I told myself, "I have to grow up at some point of time, and I think it is NOW."I said this to myself last week.

I checked for my key daily, It was a blemishless week. I was so happy, I held my head high, at last I was trying to be somewhat responsible.I entered my office, walked into my bay carrying my water bottle. So proud of myself I was, and then everything shattered right in front of my eyes! There were two of my water bottles lying on the desk, the ones I had forgotten there last week. I sat on my chair and kept the third one next to them.

Thank you!

What is every guy afraid of?

Guys don't get scared easily, atleast they pretend like that. They hold their girl's hand, while watching a horror movie, They will be the first ones to check when there's some suspicious noise in the middle of the night and they also smirk when a girl shrieks at the sight of a cockroach. Are they as brave as they look and act? NO!
I can prove it to you, any guy, irrespective of his physical or mental abilities, ranging from a geek to a macho man, is scared of one thing, that one thing that can make him shriek, shiver and what not? He looks at the girl for support. He nearly faints(albeit, due to exhaustion), because he definitely doesn't get any.
Did you guess what it is?

Its shopping. Tell me I'm wrong:)

The Bloggers Block

Sometimes its hard,
Just to come to this page,
I have countless things on my mind,
but nothing flows till my fingers,
I think about a hundred things,
a dozen of which are mind blowing,
but when I sit to write,
everything goes empty,
I stare at the screen and play with the keyboard,
I type something,
I feel happy that I'm going somewhere,
only to press backspace a moment later,
I feel challenged,
I am disappointed,
Then I let go,
Call it what you want but,
I call it the Bloggers Block

All that a Post wants

Some people blog, Some read,
And some people promote,
But all I dream of are some precious words,
Some words in this galaxy of blogs,
Some words to talk to,
To carry a short lived love affair,
I need some words to tell me,
Some words to inspire me,
Some to chastise me,
Some to criticise me,
Some to pamper me,
but None to ignore me,

All I ask are a few words,
Am not greedy,
I'll be lost in this blogosphere in a while,
but till then I want to be loved,
I want to be commented on,
I want my master to be followed by many,
Is it too much to ask?,
After all, I'm just a post,
I'm here today,
I'll be gone tomorrow,
but most of all, I want to remain forever, in your heart:)
